FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE FIRST SESSION LIKE?
The first session is all about easing into the therapeutic space and seeing if it feels like a good fit for you! We'll begin by discussing the treatment consent form and the confidentiality aspects surrounding therapy. There will be an opportunity for questions and then we'll dive right into your unique story. By the end of the first hour, you'll have a felt sense of how we can work together and leave with direction for our future sessions.
HOW OFTEN AND HOW MANY SESSIONS?
Each person's therapeutic journey is unique! Variables that can influence frequency of sessions and length of treatment are therapeutic goals, inner resourcing, community networks already in place and life circumstances. Some clients choose to meet with me weekly, others bi-weekly. Occasionally a client will request to work on one specific concern which might only require 5-10 sessions. When presenting issues are long-standing patterns, the therapeutic process may extend to a year or more. As always, clients are in charge of determining the issues they choose to address and how much time and energy they are committed to spending in therapy.
WHICH THERAPY APPROACHES ARE USED?
My approach, first and foremost, is client-centred and trauma-informed. I assess, in close collaboration with my client, which healing frameworks will best address the presented concerns. Typically I use a blend of theories including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), mindful self-compassion, somatic processing and attachment.
HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY COST?
